Young people in Canada have been active in SFT since shortly after its inception in 1994. In order to better support our incredible Canadian activist network and to help it grow, Students for a Free Tibet Canada became an incorporated organization in 2005. This site is a work in progress designed to make it easy to get involved with SFT Canada, help our membership stay better connected, provide resources and campaign materials designed for use in Canada, and keep an online record of SFT Canada’s activities and stunts! We welcome feedback and suggestions on what you would like to see included on this site. SFT Canada shares the same mission statement and overall vision of SFT International and works closely with other national networks to achieve our goal of a free and independent Tibet. National Director:
![]() | Tenzin Lobsang Wangkhang Tenzin Lobsang is a recent Commerce graduate from the University of Ottawa where she founded and was a member of an SFT chapter for 4 years. While in Ottawa, she worked for the Parliamentary Friends of Tibet in the office of the Hon. Senator Consilgio Di Nino for nearly two years. Tenzin believes strongly in Students for a Free Tibet because of the organization’s ability to raise awareness about the Tibetan issue in creative, unprecedented, and non-violent methods. She believes her involvement with Students for a Free Tibet has helped her grow on many different fronts, and is excited at the thought of helping the organization empower the next generation of freedom fighting youth! |
Summer Interns:
![]() | Dawa BokhangDawa Bokhang is currently a second-year student at the University of British Columbia majoring in Visual Arts. Besides the Tibetan issue, his interests include football (soccer) and travelling.Dawa helps with organizing SFT events and day-to-day office administration. He wishes to one day visit his father’s hometown of Kyirong in Tibet. |
![]() | Tenzin BaroTenzin Baro is currently in his second year of Environmental Studies at York University. Though his demeanor may seem serious, he is, in actuality, extremely nonchalant and maybe a tad too friendly. Everything and anything can be considered his domain of interest, as he thrives from constantly learning about and engaging in new literature and activities. He considers himself to be a philosopher, alternative politician, poet, philanthropist, and artist. So what do you name someone like this? Many have tried, but for now, “Tenzin” is apt. |
