Tibetans and their supporters will join Chinese democracy advocates for a march and candlelight vigil on Sunday, May 31st to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre on June 4th. On this fateful day, the Chinese government ordered troops to open fire on unarmed students and pro-democracy activists killing tens of thousands; a massacre Beijing denies ever happened. The Chinese government continues to suppress any expression of support for democracy in China.
On June 3rd, the eve of the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen Massacre, Tibetans and their supporters in the USA, Germany, Japan, and India will also take part in marches and vigils to show solidarity with the Tiananmen massacre survivors and to appeal for democratic rights in China and freedom for Tibet.
